Prowlarr is an indexer manager/proxy built on the popular arr .net/reactjs base stack to integrate with your various PVR apps. Prowlarr supports both Torrent Trackers and Usenet Indexers. It integrates seamlessly with Sonarr, Radarr, Lidarr, and Readarr offering complete management of your indexers with no per app Indexer setup required. In this step by step guide I will show you how to install Prowlarr on your Synology NAS using Docker. Note: If you are looking for a Prowlarr alternative, take a look at Jackett.

STEP 2
Install Container Manager via Synology “Package Center”. If you run an older DSM version (under 7.2), search for Docker instead of Container Manager.
STEP 3
Go to File Station and open the docker folder. Inside the docker folder, create one new folder and name it prowlarr. Follow the instructions in the image below.
Note: Be careful to enter only lowercase, not uppercase letters.
STEP 4
Go to Control Panel / Task Scheduler / Create / Scheduled Task / User-defined script. Follow the instructions in the images below.
STEP 5
Once you click on User-defined script a new window will open. Follow the instructions below:
- General: In the Task field type in Install Prowlarr. Uncheck “Enabled” option. Select root User.
- Schedule: Select Run on the following date then select “Do not repeat“.
- Task Settings: Check “Send run details by email“, add your email then copy paste the code below in the Run command area. After that click OK.
docker run -d --name=prowlarr \ -p 9696:9696 \ -e PUID=1026 \ -e PGID=100 \ -e TZ=Europe/Bucharest \ -v /volume1/docker/prowlarr:/config \ --restart always \ ghcr.io/linuxserver/prowlarr:develop
Note: Before you paste the code above in the Run command area below, change the value numbers for PUID and PGID with your own values. (Follow my step by step guide on how to do this.)
Note: Before you paste the code above in the Run command area below, change the value for TZ (Select your current Time Zone from this list).
STEP 6
After you click OK on STEP 5 a new warning pop up window will open. Click OK.
After you click OK, type in your DSM Password then click Submit. Follow the instructions in the image below.
STEP 7
After you click Submit on STEP 6, select your “Install Prowlarr” Task then click the “Run” tab. You will be asked to run Install Prowlarr – click OK. Follow the instructions in the image below.
STEP 8
Go back to STEP 1 or you will deal with karma 🙂
STEP 9
The installation process can take up to a few seconds/minutes. It will depend on your Internet speed connection. Now open your browser and type in http://Synology-ip-address:9696 Set up the Authentication Method: Forms (Login Page) and Authentication Required: (Enabled). Type in your own Username and Password then click Save. Follow the instructions in the image below.

STEP 11
Under Settings, click Apps. Under Applications, click +. Follow the instructions in the image below.
STEP 12
Add Application, for example, Radarr. Follow the instructions in the image below. Note: Remember, you need to have Radarr installed on your NAS.
STEP 13
Add the details below:
On the Name area, type in Radarr.
Under Sync Level, select Full Sync.
Type in your NAS local IP instead of localhost then add your Prowlarr Server address followed by :9696
Type in your NAS local IP instead of localhost then add your Radarr Server address followed by :7878
Type in your Radarr API Key. Follow the second screenshot at STEP 13, then click Save. Follow the instructions in the images below.
How to get the Radarr API Key?
Open your Radarr application on your NAS, then click Settings in the left sidebar. Under Settings, click General, then scroll down the page until you find your API Key. Copy the API Key, then paste it in the Prowlarr API Key area above.
STEP 14
To prevent containers like Radarr, Sonarr, Readarr, Lidarr and others from going into timeout when you are looking for integrations in Prowlarr, remember to DISABLE/UNCHECK the Multiple Gateways option in network settings in DSM.
STEP 15
Your Radarr has been added to Prowlarr. You can repeat the same identical operation by adding in Prowlarr other apps like Sonarr, Lidarr, Readarr etc.
Enjoy Prowlarr!
