My previous guide for Navidrome involved the use of Task Scheduler. Today I’m offering a recommended and excellent alternative for installing the latest Navidrome version via Portainer. Navidrome allows you to enjoy your music collection from anywhere, by making it available through a modern Web UI and through a wide range of third-party compatible mobile apps, for both iOS and Android devices. Navidrome is open source software distributed free of charge under the terms of the GNU GPL v3 license. Navidrome is blazing fast! lightweight, fast and self-contained. Runs well even on resource-limited platform. In this step by step guide I will show you how to install Navidrome on your Synology NAS using Docker & Portainer.
Install Portainer using my step by step guide. If you already have Portainer installed on your Synology NAS, skip this STEP. Attention: Make sure you have installed the latest Portainer version.
Go to File Station and open the docker folder. Inside the docker folder, create one new folder and name it navidrome. Follow the instructions in the image below.
Note: Be careful to enter only lowercase, not uppercase letters.
Log into Portainer using your username and password. On the left sidebar in Portainer, click on Stacks then + Add stack. Follow the instructions in the image below.
In the Name field type in navidrome. Follow the instructions in the image below.
version: "3.9" services: navidrome: container_name: Navidrome image: deluan/navidrome mem_limit: 6g cpu_shares: 1024 security_opt: - no-new-privileges:true restart: on-failure:5 ports: - 4533:4533 volumes: - /volume1/docker/navidrome:/data:rw - /volume1/web/music:/music:rw environment: PUID: 1026 PGID: 100
Note: Before you paste the code above in the Web editor area below, change /volume1/web/music with your personal path to music (where your music files are located). For example I have used my personal music path folder /volume1/web/music Change it according to your preferences.
Note: Before you paste the code above in the Web editor area below, change the value numbers for PUID and PGID with your own values. (Follow my step by step guide on how to do this.) 1026 is my personal PUID value and 100 is my personal PGID value. You have to type in your own values.
Scroll down on the page until you see a button named Deploy the stack. Click on it. Follow the instructions in the image below. The installation process can take up to a few minutes. It will depend on your Internet speed connection.
If everything goes right, you will see the following message at the top right of your screen: “Success Stack successfully deployed“.
Go back to STEP 1 or you will deal with karma 🙂
The installation process can take up to a few seconds/minutes. It will depend on your Internet speed connection. Now open your browser and type in http://Synology-ip-address:4533 Create a Username and a Password then click the CREATE ADMIN button. Follow the instructions in the image below.
Enjoy your music with Navidrome!
