How to Install ThinkDashboard on Your Synology NAS

ThinkDashboard is a lightweight, self-hosted bookmark dashboard designed for efficient organization and quick access to your favorite links. It features a minimalist, text-based interface that emphasizes simplicity and speed, making it ideal for users who prefer a clean, distraction-free experience over flashy visuals. Key features include keyboard shortcuts that allow assigning single-key shortcuts to bookmarks for instant navigation, customizable categories for grouping bookmarks into pages or categories for better organization. In this step by step guide I will show you how to install ThinkDashboardĀ on yourĀ Synology NASĀ using Docker and Portainer.

InstallĀ Portainer using my step by step guide. If you already have Portainer installed on your Synology NAS, skip this STEP. Attention: Make sure you have installed the latest Portainer version.

  • STEP 3

Go toĀ File StationĀ and open the docker folder. Inside the docker folder, create one new folder and name itĀ thinkdashboard. Follow the instructions in the image below.
Note: Be careful to enter only lowercase, not uppercase letters.

  • STEP 4

Log into Portainer using your username and password. On the left sidebar in Portainer, click onĀ HomeĀ thenĀ Live connect. Follow the instructions in the image below.

On the left sidebar in Portainer, click on StacksĀ thenĀ + Add stack. Follow the instructions in the image below.

  • STEP 5

In the Name field type in readeck. Follow the instructions in the image below.

Note: Copy Paste the code below in the Portainer Stacks Web editor.

  • STEP 6

Scroll down on the page until you see a button namedĀ Deploy the stack. Click on it. Follow the instructions in the image below. The installation process can take up to a few minutes. It will depend on your Internet speed connection.

If everything goes right, you will see the following message at the top right of your screen: ā€œSuccess Stack successfully deployedā€œ.

The installation process can take up to a few seconds/minutes. It will depend on your Internet speed connection. Now open your browser and type in http://Synology-ip-address:8132 At the top right of the page, click config to access the configuration page. Follow the instructions in the image below.

Add your favorite settings. Click customize colors to personalize your dashboard colors. Follow the instructions in the image below.

Click Save Colors to save the color combination that you like. Follow the instructions in the image below.
