Hoarder is a self-hostable bookmark-everything app with a touch of AI for the data hoarders out there. Automatic fetching for link titles, descriptions and images. In this step by step guide I will show you how to install Hoarder on your Synology NAS using Docker and Portainer.
This guide works perfectly with the latest Hoarder v0.12.2 release.
STEP 1

STEP 2
Install Portainer using my step by step guide. If you already have Portainer installed on your Synology NAS, skip this STEP. Attention: Make sure you have installed the latest Portainer version.
STEP 3
Go to File Station and open the docker folder. Inside the docker folder, create one new folder and name it hoarder. Follow the instructions in the image below.
Note: Be careful to enter only lowercase, not uppercase letters.
STEP 4
Now create three new folders inside the hoarder folder that you created at STEP 3 and name them data, meili, redis. Follow the instructions in the image below.

STEP 5
Log into Portainer using your username and password. On the left sidebar in Portainer, click on Stacks then + Add stack. Follow the instructions in the image below.
STEP 6
In the Name field type in hoarder. Follow the instructions in the image below.

Note: Before you paste the code above in the Web editor area below, change the value for NEXTAUTH_SECRET and add your own NEXTAUTH_SECRET. MariushostingMariushostingMari13 is an example for a SECRET KEY. You should invent your own Value. Add 32 random characters, both letters and numbers.
Note: Before you paste the code above in the Web editor area below, change the value for MEILI_MASTER_KEY and add your own MEILI_MASTER_KEY. ZwwfTW1Johkjc34jPQlaIoBKHjrVfigIzjVEZkLydo is an example for a MEILI_MASTER_KEY. You need to add your own 42 string value using this free online tool.
STEP 7
Scroll down on the page until you see a button named Deploy the stack. Click on it. Follow the instructions in the image below. The installation process can take up to a few minutes. It will depend on your Internet speed connection.
STEP 8
If everything goes right, you will see the following message at the top right of your screen: “Success Stack successfully deployed“.
STEP 9
Go back to STEP 1 or you will deal with karma 🙂

The installation process can take up to a few seconds/minutes. It will depend on your Internet speed connection. Now open your browser and type in http://Synology-ip-address:3022 Click Sign Up. Follow the instructions in the image below.
STEP 11
Type in your details (Name, Email address, Password), then click Sign Up. Follow the instructions in the image below.
STEP 12
Type in your favorite domain address in the apposite area, then press enter to save. Follow the instructions in the image below.
STEP 13
Your favorite bookmark will be added in a couple of seconds. Follow the instructions in the image below.
STEP 14
You can also switch to the Dark Theme. Follow the instructions in the image below.
