How to Install FreeCAD on Your Synology NAS

FreeCAD is a powerful, open-source 3D parametric CAD software designed for engineers, architects, and hobbyists. It enables precise 3D modeling for product design, mechanical engineering, and architecture. With a modular architecture, FreeCAD supports various file formats and offers customizable workflows through specialized workbenches for tasks like drafting, simulation, and 3D printing. It features parametric modeling for easy modifications, tools for 2D drafting, FEM analysis, and BIM, and is cross-platform, running on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Community-driven, it receives regular updates and plugins. Licensed under LGPL, FreeCAD is free and fully customizable, making it ideal for professionals and enthusiasts to design, simulate, and prototype with precision. In this step by step guide I will show you how to install FreeCAD on your Synology NAS using Docker & Portainer.

🟢Please Support My work by Making a Donation. Almost 99,9% of the people that install something using my guides forget to support my work, or just ignore STEP 1. I’ve been very honest about this aspect of my work since the beginning: I don’t run any ADS, I don’t require subscriptions, paid or otherwise, I don’t collect IPs, emails, and I don’t have any referral links from Amazon or other merchants. I also don’t have any POP-UPs or COOKIES. I have repeatedly been told over the years how much I have contributed to the community. It’s something I love doing and have been honest about my passion since the beginning. But I also Need The Community to Support me Back to be able to continue doing this work.

  • STEP 16

Now open your browser and type in your HTTPS address like this https://freecad.yourname.synology.me In my case it’s https:/freecad.mariushosting.synology.me that you have previously created at STEP 6. If everything goes right, you will see the FreeCAD Login page. Type in your own CUSTOM_USER and PASSWORD that you have previously created at STEP 12, then click Sign In. Follow the instructions in the image below.
