F1 Replay Timing is a self-hosted web application that overlays synchronized real-time Formula 1 track positions, timing data, driver telemetry, and race control information onto live sessions or video replays. It features an interactive track map, detailed leaderboard with gaps and tyre status, telemetry graphs, pit-stop predictions, lap analysis, and broadcast sync tools, all built with Next.js, FastAPI, and FastF1 for an enhanced viewing and analysis experience. In this step by step guide I will show you how to install F1 Replay Timing on your Synology NAS using Docker & Portainer.

💡Note: This guide works perfectly with the latest F1 Replay Timing v2.0.0 release.

• STEP 2

Install Portainer using my step by step guide. If you already have Portainer installed on your Synology NAS, skip this STEP. Attention: Make sure you have installed the latest Portainer version.

• STEP 3

Go to File Station and open the docker folder. Inside the docker folder, create one new folder and name it f1. Follow the instructions in the image below.
Note: Be careful to enter only lowercase, not uppercase letters.

• STEP 4

Now create two new folder inside the f1 folder that you have previously created at STEP 3 and name them cache and data. Follow the instructions in the image below.
Note: Be careful to enter only lowercase, not uppercase letters.

• STEP 5

Log into Portainer using your username and password. On the left sidebar in Portainer, click on Home then Live connect. Follow the instructions in the image below.

On the left sidebar in Portainer, click on Stacks then + Add stack. Follow the instructions in the image below.

• STEP 6

In the Name field type in f1. Follow the instructions in the image below.

Note: Copy Paste the code below in the Portainer Stacks Web editor.

Note: Before you paste the code above in the Web editor area below, change the value for AUTH_PASSPHRASE. Type in your own password. mariushosting is an example for a password. You will need this password later at STEP 10.

• STEP 7

Scroll down on the page until you see a button named Deploy the stack. Click on it. Follow the instructions in the image below. The installation process can take up to a few minutes. It will depend on your Internet speed connection.

• STEP 8

If everything goes right, you will see the following message at the top right of your screen: “Success Stack successfully deployed“.

The installation process can take up to a few minutes or less, seconds. It will depend on your Internet speed connection. Now open your browser and type in http://Synology-ip-address:8533 If everything goes right, you will see the F1 Replay Timing homepage. Type in your own Password (AUTH_PASSPHRASE) that you have previously added at STEP 6. Click Continue. Follow the instructions in the image below.

• STEP 11

From the Season list, select a Session to Replay. For example, you can click Race. Follow the instructions in the image below.

• STEP 12

Wait approximately 1-2 minutes then refresh the page. Follow the instructions in the image below. Go straight to the next STEP.

• STEP 13

Wait approximately 2 minutes for the session to load. Follow the instructions in the image below. Go straight to the next STEP.

Click the Play button icon to start the F1 Replay. Follow the instructions in the image below.
