How to Install Bitify on Your Synology NAS

Bitify is an open-source, self-hosted music streaming application that transforms YouTube into a personal, ad-free music library. Built with Next.js and TypeScript, it streams audio directly from YouTube videos using yt-dlp, without downloading or storing any files on your NAS server, keeping it lightweight and suitable for personal use. You can create, edit, and manage playlists, import entire YouTube playlists in bulk, move or delete songs, and enjoy toast notifications for smooth user feedback. Data is stored simply in a single JSON file, requiring no complex database setup. In this step by step guide I will show you how to install Bitify on yourĀ Synology NAS using Docker & Portainer.

InstallĀ Portainer using my step by step guide. If you already have Portainer installed on your Synology NAS, skip this STEP. Attention: Make sure you have installed the latest Portainer version.

  • STEP 3

Go toĀ File Station and open the docker folder. Inside the docker folder, create one new folder and name it bitify. Follow the instructions in the image below.
Note: Be careful to enter only lowercase, not uppercase letters.

Now create two new folders inside the bitify folder that you have previosuly created at STEP 3Ā and name them data and cache. Follow the instructions in the image below.

Log into Portainer using your username and password. On the left sidebar in Portainer, click onĀ HomeĀ thenĀ Live connect. Follow the instructions in the image below.

On the left sidebar in Portainer, click on StacksĀ thenĀ + Add stack. Follow the instructions in the image below.

  • STEP 6

In the Name field type in bitify. Follow the instructions in the image below.

Note: Copy Paste the code below in the Portainer Stacks Web editor.

  • STEP 7

Scroll down on the page until you see a button called Deploy the stack. Click on it. Follow the instructions in the image below. The installation process can take up to a few minutes. It will depend on your Internet speed connection.

If everything goes right, you will see the following message at the top right of your screen: ā€œSuccess Stack successfully deployedā€œ.

The installation process can take up to a few seconds/minutes. It will depend on your Internet speed connection. Now open your browser andĀ type in http://Synology-ip-address:3123 Paste your favorite YouTube link of the song you like. Click Add Song. Follow the instructions in the image below.
