BTOP++ is a resource monitor that shows usage and stats for processor, memory, disks, network and processes. Built with C++, it has a fast and responsive UI with UP, DOWN keys. BTOP++ is a continuation of bashtop and bpytop. It has a function for showing details stats for selected processes. In this step by step guide I will show you how to install BTOP++ on your Synology NAS using Docker & Portainer.

💡Note: This guide works perfectly with the latest version of BTOP++ v1.3.2

Install Portainer using my step by step guide. If you already have Portainer installed on your Synology NAS, skip this STEP. Attention: Make sure you have installed the latest Portainer version.

• STEP 3

Log into Portainer using your username and password. On the left sidebar in Portainer, click on Stacks then + Add stack. Follow the instructions in the image below.

• STEP 4

In the Name field type in btop. Follow the instructions in the image below.

Note: Copy Paste the code below in the Portainer Stacks Web editor.

• STEP 5

Scroll down on the page until you see a button called Deploy the stack. Click on it. Follow the instructions in the image below. The installation process can take up to a few minutes. It will depend on your Internet speed connection.

• STEP 6

If everything goes right, you will see this message at the top right of your screen: “Success Stack successfully deployed“.

• STEP 7

Go back to STEP 1 or you will deal with karma 🙂

The installation process can take up to a few seconds/minutes. It will depend on your Internet speed connection. Now open your browser and type in http://Synology-ip-address:7681 Enjoy your stats! Follow the instructions in the image below.

At the top left of the page, click menu then OPTIONS. Follow the instructions in the image below.

In order to make BTOP++ work via HTTPS, it’s mandatory to activate WebSocket. ⚠️Warning: Do NOT expose the BTOP++ container over the Internet via a Reverse Proxy. You should use it only in localhost.
