Podgrab is an awesome self-hosted tool to automatically download your favorite latest podcast episodes as soon as they become live. In this step by step guide I will show you how to install Podgrab on your Synology NAS using Docker.

This guide works perfectly with the latestSTEP 1

STEP 2
Install Container Manager via Synology āPackage Centerā. If you run an older DSM version (under 7.2), search for Docker instead of Container Manager.
STEP 3
Go toĀ File StationĀ and open the docker folder. Inside the docker folder, create one new folder and name itĀ podgrab. Follow the instructions in the image below.
Note: Be careful to enter only lowercase, not uppercase letters.
STEP 4
Now create two new foldersĀ inside the podgrabĀ folder that you created at STEP 3Ā name one “config” and the other “podcasts“. Follow the instructions in the image below.

STEP 5
Go toĀ Control PanelĀ /Ā Task SchedulerĀ /Ā CreateĀ /Ā Scheduled TaskĀ /Ā User-defined script. Follow the instructions in the image below.
STEP 6
Once you click on User-defined script a new window will open. Follow the instructions below:
- General: In the Task field type in āInstall Podgrabā. Uncheck āEnabledā option. SelectĀ rootĀ User.
- Schedule: SelectĀ Run on the following dateĀ then select āDo not repeatā.
- Task Settings: Check āSend run details by emailā, add your email then copy paste the code below in the Run command area. After that clickĀ OK.

STEP 7
After you click OK on STEP 6 a new warning pop up window will open. Click OK.
After you click OK, type in your DSM Password then click Submit. Follow the instructions in the image below.
STEP 8
After you click Submit on STEP 7, select your āInstall Podgrabā Task then click the āRunā tab. You will be asked to run Install Podgrab ā click OK. Follow the instructions in the image below.
STEP 9
Go back toĀ STEP 1Ā or you will deal with karma š
STEP 10
The installation process can take up to a few seconds/minutes. It will depend on your Internet speed connection. Now open your browser and type inĀ http://Synology-ip-address:8389 click on Settings. Follow the instructions in the image below.
STEP 11
Select your favorite options then click SAVE. Follow the instructions in the image below.
STEP 12
Go to ADD PODCAST tab, select the direct RSS feed link of your favorite podcast or search for your favorite podcast then click ADD. Follow the instructions in the image below.
