How to Install Redis on Your Synology NAS

How to Install Redis on Your Synology NAS

Redis is often referred to as a data structures server. What this means is that Redis provides access to mutable data structures via a set of commands, which are sent using a server-client model with TCP sockets and a simple protocol. So different processes can query and modify the same data structures in a shared way. This repository builds Redis, and downloads various components (modules, RedisInsight) in order to build redis-stack packages for it’s CI process. In this step by step guide I will show you how to install Redis on your Synology NAS using Docker.

💡Note: This guide works perfectly with the latest Redis v7.2.0-v10 release.

  • STEP 2

Install Container Manager via Synology “Package Center”. If you run an older DSM version (under 7.2), search for Docker instead of Container Manager.

  • STEP 3

Go to File Station and open the docker folder. Inside the docker folder, create one new folder and name it redis. Follow the instructions in the image below.
