How to Install Euterpe on Your Synology NAS

Euterpe is a music streaming software you can run yourself. It will give you access to your music everywhere you go. Either via its built-in web UI or via any of its clients. You could run it on your home computer, laptop or on a dedicated server. In this step by step guide I will show you how to install EuterpeĀ on your Synology NASĀ using Docker.

Install Container Manager via Synology ā€œPackage Centerā€. If you run an older DSM version (under 7.2), search for Docker instead of Container Manager.

  • STEP 3

Go toĀ File StationĀ and open the docker folder. Inside the docker folder, create one new folder and name itĀ euterpe. Follow the instructions in the image below.
Note: Be careful to enter only lowercase, not uppercase letters.

  • STEP 4

Go to Control Panel / Task Scheduler / Create / Scheduled Task / User-defined script. Follow the instructions in the image below.

Once you click on User-defined script, a new window will open. Follow the instructions below:

  1. General: In the Task field type in Install Euterpe. Uncheck the ā€œEnabledā€ option. Select rootĀ User.
  2. Schedule: SelectĀ Run on the following dateĀ then select ā€œDo not repeatā€œ.
  3. Task Settings: Check ā€œSend run details by emailā€œ, add your email then copy paste the code below in the Run command area. After that, click OK.

Note: Before you paste the code above in the Run command area below, change the value numbers for PUIDĀ andĀ PGIDĀ with your own values. (Follow my step by step guide on how to do this.)
Note: in the code above after -v /volume1/docker/euterpe:/euterpe-data \ you have to add your personal path to music. For example I have used my personal movies path folder -v /volume1/web/music:/root/Music \ Change it according to your preferences. -v /path/toyour/music:/root/MusicĀ  \

  • STEP 6

After you click OK on STEP 5 a new warning pop up window will open. Click OK.

After you click OK, type in your DSM Password then click Submit. Follow the instructions in the image below.

  • STEP 7

After you click Submit on STEP 6, select your ā€œInstall Euterpeā€ Task then click the ā€œRunā€ tab. You will be asked to run Install Euterpe ā€“ click OK. Follow the instructions in the image below.

  • STEP 9

The installation process can take up to a few seconds/minutes. It will depend on your Internet speed connection. Now open your browser andĀ type in http://Synology-ip-address:7483 Follow the instructions in the image below.
