LibreTranslate is a free and Open Source Machine Translation API, entirely self-hosted. Unlike other APIs, it doesn’t rely on proprietary providers such as Google or Azure to perform translations. Instead, its translation engine is powered by the open source Argos Translate library. In this step by step guide I will show you how to installĀ LibreTranslateĀ on yourĀ Synology NASĀ using Docker & Portainer.

InstallĀ Portainer using my step by step guide. If you already have Portainer installed on your Synology NAS, skip this STEP. Attention: Make sure you have installed the latest Portainer version.
STEP 3
Log into Portainer using your username and password. On the left sidebar in Portainer, click on StacksĀ thenĀ + Add stack. Follow the instructions in the image below.
STEP 4
In the Name field type in libretranslate. Follow the instructions in the image below.

STEP 5
Scroll down the page until you see a button called Deploy the stack. Click on it. Follow the instructions in the image below. The installation process can take up to a few minutes. It will depend on your Internet speed connection.
STEP 6
If everything goes right, you will see this message at the top right of your screen: āSuccess Stack successfully deployedā.
STEP 7
Go back toĀ STEP 1Ā or you will deal with karma š
STEP 8
Please waitĀ approximately 5-10 minutes for the installation to be completed, otherwise you will get a blank page if you try to connect to soon. The installation process can take up to a few seconds/minutes. It will depend on your Internet speed connection. Now open your browser and type in http://Synology-ip-address:7821 Type in a text and choose the language in which you would like to translate it. Follow the instructions in the image below.
