Booksonic is a platform for accessing the audiobooks you own wherever you are. At the moment the platform consists of Booksonic Air – A server for streaming your audiobooks, successor to the original Booksonic server and based on Airsonic. You can use Booksonic Android App to connect to your Booksonic-Air server. In this step by step guide I will show you how to install Booksonic on your Synology NAS using Docker.
STEP 1

STEP 2
Install Container Manager via Synology āPackage Centerā. If you run an older DSM version (under 7.2), search for Docker instead of Container Manager.
STEP 3
Go toĀ File StationĀ and open the docker folder. Inside the docker folder, create one new folder and name itĀ booksonic. Follow the instructions in the image below.
Note: Be careful to enter only lowercase, not uppercase letters.
STEP 4
Now createĀ fourĀ new folders inside theĀ booksonicĀ folder that you created atĀ STEP 3Ā nameĀ audiobooks,Ā config,Ā othermedia,Ā podcasts. Follow the instructions in the image below.

STEP 5
Go to Control Panel / Task Scheduler / Create / Scheduled Task / User-defined script. Follow the instructions in the images below.
STEP 6
Once you click on User-defined script a new window will open. Follow the instructions below:
- General: In the Task field type in Install Booksonic. Uncheck āEnabledā option. SelectĀ rootĀ User.
- Schedule: SelectĀ Run on the following dateĀ then select āDo not repeatā.
- Task Settings: Check āSend run details by emailā, add your email then copy paste the code below in the Run command area. After that clickĀ OK.

Note: Before you paste the code above in the Run command area below, change the value numbers for PUIDĀ andĀ PGIDĀ with your own values. (Follow my step by step guide on how to do this.)
Note: Before you paste the code above in the Run command area below, change the value for TZĀ (Select your current Time Zone from this list).
STEP 7
After you click OK on STEP 6 a new warning pop up window will open. Click OK.
After you click OK, type in your DSM Password then click Submit. Follow the instructions in the image below.
STEP 8
After you click Submit on STEP 7, select your āInstall Booksonicā Task then click the āRunā tab. You will be asked to run Install Booksonic ā click OK. Follow the instructions in the image below.

Go back toĀ STEP 1Ā or you will deal with karma š
STEP 10
The installation process can take up to a few seconds/minutes. It will depend on your Internet speed connection. Now open your browser andĀ type in http://Synology-ip-address:4040 Type in the default username and Password, then click Sign in.
STEP 11
Click Change administrator password. Follow the instructions in the image below.
STEP 12
Change admin password or create new user with admin privileges like I did. Follow the instructions in the image below.
STEP 13
Start to populate your media folders with your audiobooks files. Add your media Folders. For example Name: Audiobooks. Folder /audiobooks. Click Scan media folders now then hit the Save button. (You have created the folders at STEP 6). Follow the instructions in the image below.
