Tagr is a self-hosted web application that lets you browse, play, and edit the metadata of your music files from any browser. You simply point it at your music folders and get a clean three-panel interface for navigating the library, listening to tracks, and writing tag changes directly back to the audio files. It supports a wide range of formats, offers full change history with the ability to revert edits, includes a waveform-based player with listen tracking, and works smoothly on a NAS. Iāve been running Tagr as my everyday music library companion for a while now. Whenever I add new tracks or notice incomplete tags, I open it in the browser, fix the metadata on the spot, listen through the built-in player, and keep everything consistent without switching to a desktop app. In this step by step guide I will show you how to install Tagr on your Synology NAS using Docker and Dockhand.
This guide works perfectly with the latest Tagr v1.12.0Ā release.

š¢Please Support My work by Making a Donation. Almost 99,9% of the people that install something using my guidesĀ forget to support my work, or justĀ ignoreĀ STEP 1. Iāve been very honest about this aspect of my work since the beginning: I donāt run any ADS, I donāt require subscriptions, paid or otherwise, I donāt collect IPs, emails, and I donāt have any referral links from Amazon or other merchants. I also donāt have any POP-UPs or COOKIES. I have repeatedly been told over the years how much I have contributed to the community. Itās something I love doing and have been honest about my passion since the beginning. But I also Need The Community to Support me Back to be able to continue doing this work.
STEP 15
Now open your browser and type in your HTTPS/SSL certificate like this https://tagr.yourname.synology.me that you have previously created at STEP 6. In my case it’s https://tagr.mariushosting.synology.me If everything goes right, you will see the Tagr login page. Type in your own Username (AUTH_USER) and Password (AUTH_PASSWORD) that you have previously added at STEP 12. Click Sign in. Follow the instructions in the image below.

STEP 16
Click Scan library. This will take some hours / minutes depending on how big your music library is. After the scan is finished, go straight to the next STEP. Follow the instructions in the image below.

STEP 17
Your music files at a glance! Follow the instructions in the image below.

STEP 18
When you add new music in your music folder in Synology, remember to Rescan the library. At the top left of the page, click on the 3 vertical dots then click Full scan. Play your favorite song! Follow the instructions in the image below. ā ļøThe @eaDir folder will still be visible on the left sidebar. This is a Synology folder and you can ignore it. For the moment, I have opened a GitHub issue to get this fixed. Follow the instructions in the image below.

Enjoy Tagr!
