QuickConnect allows you to access your NAS device from outside of your internal private network. This is Synology’s way of ensuring you don’t need to open ports on your NAS/router to access your data externally. I don’t use QuickConnect. QuickConnect is meant for beginners. There’s nothing wrong with using it. The way that I access my data from outside of my network is through DDNS services like my-favorite-name.synology.me
While QuickConnect allows your devices to establish an indirect connection to your DSM or SRM operating system through Synology servers and your firewall configurations will be bypassed, DDNS helps establish a direct connection to your DSM or SRM operating system.
