Recently, a new product has joined the ranks of Synology and, of course, mariushosting couldn’t pass on the opportunity to tell you about it. The Synology BC500 bullet camera has 5.0 megapixels with a maximum resolution of (2880 x 1620) at 30 FPS. The video format has compression support with H.264 and H.265. The BC500 has an IP67 weather resistance. The IP67 rating indicates the BC500 camera is Waterproof. Number 6 means complete protection against dust over extended time and protection against contact with objects greater than 1mm in diameter, such as a wire or a small tool. Number 7 means the system is protected against short periods of immersion in water while under pressure between 15 centimeters and 1 meter. The power source of the BC500 camera is PoE. What is PoE? PoE stands for Power over Ethernet. PoE is a technology for implementing wired (RJ45) Ethernet local area networks (LANs) that enables the electrical current necessary for operating each device to be carried by Ethernet data cables instead of standard electrical power cords and wiring. So your camera will get power over the ethernet cable directly from the switch. The Synology BC500 camera will not require any Surveillance Station license to be activated.
Note: How much does the Synology BC500 cost? The manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the new BC500 is $220 or 225 EUR.
Note: When will the Synology BC500 become available? According to the official sources, Synology BC500 is now available through Synology’s solution partners and channel networks. But the cameras are expected to be available in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in May or June 2023. Launch dates vary by region.
Note: How long is the warranty for the BC500? 3-year hardware warranty.
⚠️Attention: The price of the BC500 cameras is very high from what you can see on online distributor sites, more than comparative models. You can get a similarly quality camera at a third of the price from other brands.
Note: Synology BC500 camera will work with the latest Surveillance Station 9.1.2 version.
Note: Synology TC500 camera Release Date and Specs.
