Hello, loyal visitors! Today I want to introduce a new gadget by Reolink called Floodlight! As you well know, I have been using Reolink Surveillance Cameras in combination with Synology Surveillance Station for years now, with excellent results. The cameras I have reviewed these past few years, the RLC-1212A, CX410, RLC-811A and RLC-511WA, come with powerful LED spotlights that automatically activate upon detecting motion such as people, animals and cars passing by. Reolink has thoughtfully introduced an IoT device with two very powerful front LEDs that give the impression of a small robot that looks a lot like WALL-E. The LEDs activate automatically upon detecting motion such as people, animals and cars passing by, and are controllable via the Reolink app available for both iOS and Android. Reolink Floodlight has a power of 2000 lumens and 4200K. The ultra-bright floodlight can illuminate a larger area such as your backyard and garage for greater safety at night. It saves more than 80% on the electric bill compared to the traditional 175W halogen light. With an IP65 rating, Reolink Floodlight can withstand heavy rain, snow, storms, and other severe weather phenomena. It’s ideal for use in various places.
Package Content
In the Reolink PoE Floodlight package you will find everything you need, which is: the Reolink Floodlight PoE itself, a 1 Meter Network Cable, a Pack of Screws, the Mounting Plate with the Mounting Hole Template together with the Reolink Quick Start Guide.
Emotions
Whenever a Reolink product arrives at the mariushosting headquarters, it is always exciting because every single Reolink brand product is a joy to test and use. The satisfaction of a good product!
Smart Home
Reolink Floodlight can be linked to Reolink cameras to create a smart home system. If the camera detects an event, its floodlights and built-in siren will be triggered.
Floodlights at Night
Reolink Floodlight will run in its default lighting mode if it has never been set up before. The floodlights stay off during the day, and only turn on when the PIR alarm is activated at night, and then turn off when the alarm ends.
Save on the Electricity Bill
As I already mentioned at the beginning of the article, the ultra-bright floodlight can illuminate a larger area such as your backyard and garage for greater safety at night. It saves more than 80% on your electric bill compared to the traditional 175W halogen light.
PoE and WiFi version
Reolink Floodlight is available in both PoE and WiFi version, with two methods of power supply. Compared with conventional floodlights, it can be powered more easily and more efficiently. In my review you can see the PoE version of the floodlight.
PoE For Video Surveillance and Floodlight
The QSW-M2116P-2T2S managed switch that I personally use for my Reolink Surveillance Cameras and Floodlights has sixteen 30-watt 2.5GbE PoE+ ports, two 90-watt 10GbE PoE++ ports, and two 10GbE SFP+ ports.
Video Test
With its light sensor, the floodlight can sense lighting conditions, and will turn on automatically only when it’s dark. In this mode, you can set a brighter light for when an alarm is triggered to deter suspicious people.
The Blue Led
The blue led that tells you the Floodlight is working and active can be switched off through the Reolink Application if you don’t want to see it.
Customize it!
You can easily customize key features of the Reolink Floodlight to your preference for various needs. You can manually adjust the angle and you can adjust the floodlight eye/heads to any direction with an extension of up 240 degrees horizontally.
Provisional assembly
I mounted my Reolink floodlight above a door. Once I finish some work on the building, I plan on changing the place of the floodlight to a more convenient one.
