Active Backup for Business is for backing up your data stored in your PC and Hyper Backup is for backing up your data stored on your Synology NAS. Hyper Backup is used to backup your Synology NAS data to another device, either a USB drive or a remote Synology NAS, or even to a cloud account like Synology C2, Dropbox, Google Drive, Amazon S3 etc. Ultimately, Active Backup for Business is for backing up other devices like PCs and servers to a Synology NAS. So you can’t use Hyper Backup to backup other PCs or devices to a Synology NAS.
These are the major differences between Active Backup for Business and Hyper Backup packages offered by Synology. In the example below, I want to show you how the two packages work in synergy to offer a limitless backup experience.
I want to give you another clearer example. Once you have backed up your PC using the Active Backup for Business package, you can use the Hyper Backup package to make a backup of the backup. Easy, right?
