Synology: Huge Docker Container Updates February 2025

Synology Huge Docker Container Updates February 2025

In February 2025, there have been major updates to several Docker containers. Because I always like to stay on top of things and make sure you get updated versions of my Docker/Portainer/Docker Compose tutorials, below is a list of Docker containers that have had important changes come out, which I have updated for you, my special readers. It’s because of your support and encouragement that I keep on keeping on and like to give you the best of my work and efforts!

💡Dawarich

Dawarich is a self-hosted web app designed to replace Google Timeline (aka Google Location History). It enables you to: visualize your data on an interactive map, import your location history from Google Maps Timeline and Owntracks and explore statistics like the number of countries and cities visited, total distance traveled, and more. Note: Install Dawarich on Your Synology NAS.

💡Bitwarden

Bitwarden is a free and open-source password management (password manager) service that stores sensitive information such as website credentials in an encrypted vault. The Bitwarden platform offers a variety of client applications including a web interface, desktop applications, browser extensions, mobile apps, and a CLI. Note: Install Bitwarden on Your Synology NAS.

💡Kimai

Kimai is a free, open source and online time-tracking software designed for small businesses and freelancers. It is built with modern technologies such as Symfony, Bootstrap, RESTful API, Doctrine, AdminLTE, Webpack, ES6 and many more. Note: Install Kimai on Your Synology NAS.

💡Stirling PDF

Stirling-PDF is a powerful locally hosted web based PDF manipulation tool using Docker and AI that allows you to perform various operations on PDF files, such as splitting merging, converting, reorganizing, adding images, rotating, compressing, and more. Note: Install Stirling PDF on Your Synology NAS.

💡Homarr

Homarr is a simple and lightweight homepage for your server that helps you easily access all of your services in one place. The thing I like most about Homarr is its speed and simplicity in adding links of your favorite docker apps. You can use it as a bookmark as well. It has great integration with Plex, Sonarr, Radarr, Pi-Hole etc. Homarr supports multiple configs and persistent storage.. Note: Install Homarr on Your Synology NAS.

💡Speedtest Tracker

Speedtest Tracker is a program that runs a speedtest check every hour and graphs the results in a fancy way. The back-end is written in Laravel and the front-end uses Filament. It uses Ookla’s Speedtest cli to get the data and uses Chart.js to plot the results. Note: Install Speedtest Tracker on Your Synology NAS.

💡Rustdesk

RustDesk is a remote desktop software, the open source TeamViewer alternative, works out of the box, no configuration required. You have full control of your data, with no concerns about security. You can use a public rendezvous/relay server or self-hosting, or write your own server. Note: Install Rustdesk on Your Synology NAS.

💡Linkwarden

Linkwarden is a self-hosted, open-source collaborative bookmark manager to collect, organize and archive webpages. The objective is to organize useful webpages and articles you find across the web in one place, and since useful webpages can go away, Linkwarden also saves a copy of each webpage as a Screenshot and PDF, ensuring accessibility even if the original content is no longer available. Additionally, Linkwarden is designed with collaboration in mind, sharing links with the public and/or allowing multiple users to work together seamlessly. Note: Install Linkwarden on Your Synology NAS.

💡Documenso

Documenso. Signing documents digitally should be fast and easy and should be the best practice for every document signed worldwide. This is technically quite easy today, but it also introduces a new party to every signature: the signing tool providers. While this is not a problem in itself, it should make us think about how we want these providers of trust to work. Documenso aims to be the world’s most trusted document-signing tool. This trust is built by empowering you to self-host Documenso and review how it works under the hood. You can also use Docuseal as an alternative to Documenso. Note: Install Documenso on Your Synology NAS.

💡Firefly III

Firefly III is a self-hosted manager for your personal finances. It can help you keep track of your expenses and income so you can spend less and save more. Firefly III supports the use of budgets, categories and tags. Using a bunch of external tools, you can import data. It also has many neat financial reports available. Firefly III should give you insight into and control over your finances. The Firefly III data importer does not connect to your bank directly. Instead, it uses Nordigen and SaltEdge to connect to over 6000 banks worldwide. These services are free for Firefly III users, but require registration. Keep in mind these services have their own privacy and data usage policies. The data importer can import CSV files you’ve downloaded from your bank. You can run the data importer once, for a bulk import. Note: Install Firefly III on Your Synology NAS.
