In a few months we’ll be in 2023 and Synology, now at DSM 7.1, still does not support Dark Mode. Despite the fact that thousands of requests have been made over numerous years, at first on the official Synology forum, then on Reddit, still, today, August 7, 2022, Synology has not applied one of the biggest requests made by its users: implementing the Dark Mode theme on their DSM operating system. When DSM 7 arrived, everyone had their hopes up that Synology had listened to the intense feedback from its users about introducing Dark Mode.
Today, August 7, 2022, your friend Marius is attempting what may seem the impossible and that is to get Synology to implement Dark Mode on DSM, a dream that may yet come to fruition as it happened with the successful Docker campaign from last month. All the visitors and the powerful 30K+ Facebook community of users, let us join forces and send Synology an Inquiry. Everyone send this message to Synology and let all our voices echo in our community of tech-hungry sysadmins so that we may drive this beautiful, but also very meaningful change that will allow us to customize our DSM OS for a smoother and cooler NAS user experience!
After having received hundreds of emails in these last few years from Synology users complaining about the Dark Mode feature missing in DSM 7, I decided to write this article and tell you that, today, August 7, 2022, I sent a Feature Inquiry to Synology to help speed up the process for the implementation of Dark Mode on DSM. And I strongly recommend my readers to also send a “Feature Inquiry” to Synology to speed up the process with the Dark Mode feature in DSM.
As you can see in the image below, you have to choose Others from Category. After that, type in your Name, select your email, confirm it and select your current location. And then write your message and hit the send button.

Requests for this feature have been made for years now and we’d like to know: when are we getting Dark Mode for DSM? Note: Synology is a wonderful company with a very hard-working team that has always shown a great deal of determination when it comes to solving issues such as this. The thing is, they can’t stay on top of everything and need people like us to help them do just that by sending in suggestions such as this Feature Inquiry about Dark Mode in DSM.
