
With Tandoor Recipes you can easily manage your recipes with a fast and intuitive editor. Shop lists via the meal plan or straight from recipes with a powerful & customizable search. Tandoor is built around the values of Open Source software and using modern technologies. No tracking, no analytics, just your recipes. Tandoor Recipes is an alternative to Mealie. In this step by step guide I will show you how to install Tandoor Recipes on your UGREEN NAS using Docker & Portainer.
This guide works perfectly with the latest Tandoor Recipes v2.5.3Ā release.
STEP 1

STEP 2
InstallĀ Portainer using my step by step guide. If you already have Portainer installed on your UGREEN NAS, skip this STEP. Attention: Make sure you have installed the latest Portainer version.
STEP 3
ā ļøMandatory: Enable HTTPS on your UGREEN NAS.
STEP 4
Create a new hostname on the noip website using your noip account. For example, I have created mariusdoorĀ as Host and I use the free ddns.net domain. In the IP Address area, type in your own IPV4 IP address from your ISP, then click Create. Follow the instructions in the image below.

STEP 5
ā ļøMandatory: Add Read & Write Permissions to the Docker Folder.
STEP 6
Go toĀ Files and open the docker folder. Inside the docker folder, create one new folder and name itĀ tandoor. Follow the instructions in the image below.
Note: Be careful to enter only lowercase, not uppercase letters.

STEP 7
Now create three new folders inside the tandoor folder that you created at STEP 6Ā and name them db, mediafiles, staticfiles. Follow the instructions in the image below.

STEP 8
Follow my step by step guide on how to activate SMTP for your Gmail account. This step is mandatory. Note: If you don’t want to use the easiest way for SMTP with Google and you already have SMTP details from your own Mail Server, you can just skip this STEP and use your personalized email SMTP details instead.
STEP 9
Log into Portainer using your username and password. On the left sidebar in Portainer, click onĀ HomeĀ thenĀ Live connect. Follow the instructions in the image below.

On the left sidebar in Portainer, click on StacksĀ thenĀ + Add stack. Follow the instructions in the image below.

STEP 10
In the Name field type in tandoor. Follow the instructions in the image below.

(Follow my step by step guide on houidw to do this.) 999 is my personal UID value and 10Ā is my personal GID value. You have to type in your own values.

STEP 11
Click the Upload button after Web editor. Download the stack.env file by clicking the blue link below and then upload it from your computer in the “Load variables from .env files“. Follow the instructions in the image below. šNote: Support my work to unlock the password.

STEP 12
Note: On the Environment variables change the value for SECRET_KEY and add your own 64 length SECRET KEY. (Generate your own FREE Random 64 length SECRET_KEY.)
Note: On the Environment variables change the value for TZ (TimeZone).Ā (Select your current Time Zone from this list.)
Note: On the Environment variables change the values for DEFAULT_FROM_EMAIL and type in your own Gmail address that you have previously used at STEP 8.
Note: On the Environment variables change the values for EMAIL_HOST_USER and type in your own Gmail address that you have previously used at STEP 8.
Note: On the Environment variables change the values for EMAIL_HOST_PASSWORD and type in your own Gmail APP Password that you have previously generated at STEP 8. ā ļøWarning: Do NOT confuse with your own Gmail password. This is the Gmail APP password.

STEP 13
After you make the changes,Ā click the Web editor button. Follow the instructions in the image below.

STEP 14
Scroll down on the page until you see a button namedĀ Deploy the stack. Click on it. Follow the instructions in the image below. The installation process can take up to a few minutes. It will depend on your Internet speed connection.

STEP 15
If everything goes right, you will see the following message at the top right of your screen: āSuccess Stack successfully deployedā.

STEP 16
Open your Nginx Proxy Manager container that you have previously installed at STEP 3. Click Add Proxy Host. A new pop up window will open. Add the following details:
Domain Names: Type in your own noip domain name that you have previously created at STEP 4.
Scheme: http
Forward Hostname/IP: Type in the local NAS IP of your UGREEN NAS.
Forward Port: Type in the Tandoor Recipes local Port that is 9815

Check Websockets Support
Click the SSL tab. Follow the instructions in the image below.

STEP 17
After you click the SSL tab, add the following details:
SSL Certificate: Request a new SSL Certificate
Check: Force SSL
Check: HSTS Enabled
Check: HTTP/2 Support
Click Save. Follow the instructions in the image below.

STEP 18
In the Proxy Hosts area, if everything goes right, you will see that your hostname has been generated. Click on it. Follow the instructions in the image below.

STEP 20
Now open your browser and type in your HTTPS/SSL certificate like this https://tandoor.ddns.netĀ In my case it’s https://mariusdoor.ddns.netĀ If everything goes right, you will see the Tandoor Setup page. Type in your own Username and Password then click Create Superuser account. Follow the instructions in the image below.

STEP 21
User has been created! Type in your own Username and Password that you have previously created at STEP 20, then click Sign In. Follow the instructions in the image below.

Click NEXT. Follow the instructions in the image below.

Click NEXT or Import your own Data. Follow the instructions in the image below.

If you have correctly set up the Email at STEP 12, you can also invite someone to your Tandoor Space. Click NEXT. Follow the instructions in the image below.

Your Tandoor Space at a glance! Click Settings. Follow the instructions in the image below.

You can easily change the Cosmetic of your Tandoor page. Click Cosmetic, then switch the theme to Dark. Click SAVE to save the settings. Follow the instructions in the image below.

Click Profile, then MANAGE EMAILS. Follow the instructions in the image below.

In the Email field, type in your own email address, then click Add E-mail. Follow the instructions in the image below.
