With the advent of the new DSM 7.2, Synology introduced PHP 8.2 in their WebStation. After repeated testing of the containerized version of PHP 8.2, I realized that it takes a lot of time to install it, even 20-30 minutes. That being said, Synology has come out with a major update: starting today, June 15, 2023, the brand new version of PHP 8.2 is available in Package Center, as well as PHP 8.1. In short, it looks like the giant Synology has finally woken up and pleased its customers who have been requesting this update en masse since the mariushosting campaign launched in December 2022.
How to install the new PHP 8.2 on your Synology NAS? Go to Package Center then search for PHP. Install PHP 8.2 or PHP 8.1. Follow the instructions in the image below.
As you can see, after setting up WebStation with the new PHP 8.2, mariushosting, which is using WordPress as CMS, is now running under PHP 8.2!
I want to extend a big Thank You to everyone who has sent a feature inquiry about PHP 8.2 in the previous campaign launched by me on December 12, 2022. Continue to support mariushosting for it to voice your requests with new future campaigns!
