On May 31, 2023, Synology surprised us with their new HDD Disks, 100% compatible with most Synology NAS models, but, most importantly, coming in at a Competitive Price! The models are the following: HAT3300-4T, HAT3300-6T, HAT3300-8T and HAT3300-12T – 4 Terabytes, 6 Terabytes, 8 Terabytes, and 12 Terabytes respectively. Firmware updates can be performed directly through the DSM operating system, ensuring drives benefit from the latest patches while eliminating the need for disk removal. Note: The new HAT3300 HDD disks are released 2 years and 4 months after the launch of Synology’s HAT5300 Enterprise Disks which generated mixed feelings at the time, and continue to do so today because of their unaffordable prices for many NAS users. It would be nice if Synology would come out with an affordable SSD Plus Series as well sometime in the future.
