Yesterday, August 16, 2024, in high summer, our Synology Facebook Group reached 70K+ members! 70Ā thousand people have joined our Facebook group and are part of our dedicated Synology community. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone and extend my sincere appreciation for choosing our Synology group. May you get all the answers you need, quick replies and the best fixes for any Synology-related issue you may encounter!
I’m happy to announce that our Synology Facebook group has reached 70K+ members! The fact that over 70 000 people have come together to form what is the biggest Synology group on Facebook is an amazing thing. What is even more amazing is that our community is the product of regular people like you and I lending a helping hand every single day and sharing their knowledge and experience for everyone to benefit from.
The reason why I’m frequently updating you on the numbers goes beyond a mere informative aspect. It’s really about the people behind the numbers who are working towards a common goal which is to build and sustain a community. Because it takes time and effort to read through posts and comments and offer solutions, brainstorm tweaks to suit special use cases and provide recommendations for varied scenarios, all with the benefit of another user in mind. We all have busy lives, and work and family and all that life constantly throws at us can be overwhelming, so to take time out of their day to help others is what makes the people behind our Synology community pillars of good character. I salute you, dear moderators and members sharing your time and knowledge with everyone, being present and helpful, consistent and reliable!
I’m also taking note of all your efforts and hard work and doing my best to bring my contribution as well. In the past two weeks I’ve updated 180 Docker containers and made efforts to provide at least one new post a day on the blog. If you visit mariushosting, every day you’ll get to see a new piece of content and interesting Docker apps to install on your Synology NAS and use for your home setup or business.
This being said, with over 70K members, the mariushosting Synology Facebook group is the biggest Synology community on Facebook, and THE place to be to interact with your fellow sysadmins! If you also have a Discord account, come join the mariushosting Synology Discord channel too and the new Synology Reddit channel.
Thank you everyone, Moderators & Admins (Anna Anna, Joel Gonzalez, Paul Barrett,Ā Jason Yeo,Ā Sebastian Kochendƶrfer,Ā Paul Steunebrink,Ā Scott Stevens, Hein Traag, Peter Kay, Stefan Lindeberg, Henry Madsen Jensen) and all group users who have made this possible! And the rest of you who are not yet with us, come join the biggest Synology NAS Facebook group using the link above. We are now 70K+ on Facebook and growing fast! Inspiring others to take a chance on new adventures and grow and learn new and exciting things! And itās not only Facebook ā we also have the biggest dedicated Synology Community on Discord too with over 7785 members. Your Internet friend Marius is working hard every single day to build top Synology communities accessible for FREE for all who are enthusiastic and passionate about technology.
In recent years I have been daily deal with an increasing number of haters. I receive heavy insults on a daily basis via communication channels such as email. People talk bad about the work I do, people shamelessly copy and regurgitate my work, they insult me because of my nationality and many more. The nastiest things you can think of, I have heard them. In spite of this, I have kept going without making you a part of what goes on behind the scenes. Your support shown over the years has been vital and that is why mariushosting has gone on.
In all the guides present on mariushosting you will find STEP 1 which says Please Support My work by Making a Donation. Almost 99,9% of the people that install something using my guides forget to support my work, or just ignore STEP 1. Iāve been very honest about this aspect of my work since the beginning: I donāt run any ADS, I donāt require subscriptions, paid or otherwise, I donāt collect IPs, emails, and I donāt have any referral links from Amazon or other merchants. I also don’t have any POP-UPs or COOKIES. The main reason for this is because I want to offer a clean, safe and pleasant user experience to anyone coming to mariushosting. And I truly think itās important we have this kind of experience in todayās online climate where you never truly know if what youāre reading is genuine content anymore. But for this I require your support. I do self-host so I have devices running 24/7/365. I do all the technical support work, admin work, I test and create content, from informing you of whatās new to providing complex technical tutorials with images and exact instructions and code that I specifically make work for this type of devices, take care of security and all other kinds of updates, and work to improve user experience all the time. But I need to be supported to be able to continue doing this kind of work. I have repeatedly been told over the years how much I have contributed to the community. Itās something I love doing and have been honest about my passion since the beginning. But I also ā¤ļø Need The Community to Support me Back to be able to continue doing this work.
Two months ago, a new feature came to mariushosting. If you have a Docker ComposeĀ or aĀ Docker CLI (code to insert in Task Scheduler) that is not already present on mariushosting, or a code that is different from the one proposed by me in one of my tutorials,š You Can Now Share It on mariushostingĀ to make it available to the community and your fellow Sysadmins. Your compose will be available for free to all visitorsĀ that have a Synology NAS that supports Docker.
About a month ago I was telling you that mariushosting is on Reddit too. The subreddit r/synologynas/ was created as a hub for Synology users and enthusiasts to connect and address topics of interest revolving around what it means to be a sysadmin, whether it’s about the challenges that come with the role or the excitement of being the sole administrator of your sys-environment. Today I’m happy to share with you that our Synology community on Reddit already has over 880 members! If you are a Synology owner and are on Reddit, come join our lovely little community and become a member!
