On April 2, 2024, WordPress 6.5 was released to the public. The latest and greatest version of WordPress is WordPress 6.5 code name “Regina” and it’s in honor of Regina Carter. This version is available for “download” from wordpress.org but not in the Synology Package Center. So, if you want to download and install WordPress 6.5 on your Synology NAS, you have to follow my step by step guide on how to manually update a new version of WordPress in your Synology or use my simple Docker guide on How to Install WordPress on Your Synology NAS with Docker. I recommend everyone use the official version of WordPress on their NAS, or the Docker version.

WordPress 6.5 includes 110+ performance updates, resulting in an impressive increase in speed and efficiency across the Post Editor and Site Editor. Loading is over two times faster than in 6.4, with input processing speed up to five times faster than the previous release. Translated sites see up to 25% improvement in load time for this release courtesy of Performant Translations. Additional performance highlights include AVIF image support and improvements for registering block variations with callbacks. WordPress 6.5 It is THE BEST version of WordPress to ever ship out. The next major release will be WordPress 6.6 which will be released to the general public at the beginning of July 2024.
