
ConvertX is a self-hosted, open-source online file conversion tool designed to provide a versatile and private solution for converting files across a wide range of formats. It supports over 1,000 file formats, leveraging powerful libraries and tools such as FFmpeg for video, Pandoc for documents, GraphicsMagick and Vips for images, and Inkscape for vector graphics, among others. In this step by step guide I will show you how to install ConvertXĀ on yourĀ UGREEN NASĀ using Docker & Portainer.
STEP 1

InstallĀ Portainer using my step by step guide. If you already have Portainer installed on your UGREEN NAS, skip this STEP. Attention: Make sure you have installed the latest Portainer version.
STEP 3
Go toĀ Files and open the docker folder. Inside the docker folder, create one new folder and name it convertx. Follow the instructions in the image below.
Note: Be careful to enter only lowercase, not uppercase letters.

STEP 4
ā ļøMandatory: Add Read & Write Permissions to the Docker Folder.
STEP 5
Log into Portainer using your username and password. On the left sidebar in Portainer, click onĀ HomeĀ thenĀ Live connect. Follow the instructions in the image below.

On the left sidebar in Portainer, click on StacksĀ thenĀ + Add stack. Follow the instructions in the image below.

STEP 6
In the Name field type in convertx. Follow the instructions in the image below.

Note: Before you paste the code above in the Web editor area below, change the value for JWT_SECRET. (Generate your own Random 64 length JWT_SECRET.)

STEP 7
Scroll down the page until you see a button called Deploy the stack. Click on it. Follow the instructions in the image below. The installation process can take up to a few minutes. It will depend on your Internet speed connection.

STEP 8
If everything goes right, you will see this message at the top right of your screen: āSuccess Stack successfully deployedā.

STEP 10
The installation process can take up to a few seconds/minutes. It will depend on your Internet speed connection. Now open your browser and type in http://ugreen-ip-address:3522 Type in your own Email Address and Password, then click Create account. Follow the instructions in the image below.

STEP 11
Upload the file that you want to convert from your PC. Follow the instructions in the image below.

STEP 12
From the list, Select the format to which you want to convert the file. Follow the instructions in the image below.

STEP 13
Click Convert. Follow the instructions in the image below.

STEP 14
Wait until the file is converted. Once the file is converted, it will be in the “Results” list. Click Download to download the converted file in the format that you have previously selected at STEP 12. Follow the instructions in the image below.
