On August 26, 2026, Synology released a new version of Container Manager jumping from 24.0.2-1606 to 24.0.2-1706. That’s it. Two years ago, on August 29, 2024, I wrote about this exact problem: Docker Engine 24.0.2 had already reached End of Life on June 8, 2024. The facts were clear then. They remain clear now. You can still check it yourself: endoflife.date/docker-engine. I linked the official timeline. I explained the risks. I begged for attention. And yet here we are in 2026, receiving nothing more than a quiet package-number bump on the same long-outdated engine. Thousands of Feature Requests. Thousands of users across the globe. Year after year of polite, detailed, and often desperate inquiries asking Synology to bring Container Manager up to a modern Docker version.

The response? Silence. Followed by another minor revision of the same EOL software.

This isn’t just disappointing. It feels like a deliberate choice to ignore the people who actually run their systems day after day.

Synology, your users have been asking. Loudly. Clearly. For years. Another meaningless package bump on the same abandoned, unsupported, outdated engine.

This isn’t a delay.

This isn’t prioritization.

This is indifference.
