Synology Warranty Plus comes with extra benefits and advantages for your hardware. If you go for the special plan, you’ll get 2 more years of warranty on your hardware which means 2 more years of Synology support for your device. One big advantage of the extended warranty plan is that you can get your faulty device replaced with a new one. And while you would normally have to send your faulty unit back and only then receive one, there’s also the option to receive a replacement unit from Synology before you send in your faulty one. The advantages are that you can save your data upon receiving the new unit, and other essential services, and have 28 days of time to do so before you have to send your faulty unit back.
No, Extended Warranty Plus is not a free plan. According to Synology: ‘The price for Extended Warranty Plus is calculated based on the model you intend to cover and the region you register it for. The total cost will be confirmed during the registration process’.
No. The extended warranty plan only covers your NAS device, or expansion unit, as it was when leaving the factory. RAM memory modules, SSD or HDD disks and other accessories are not covered by the extended warranty.
No, the warranty plan only covers the device it’s been issued for. You can only migrate it to a replacement device as part of the warranty plan, if one is issued to you.
You can purchase Extended Warranty Plus from your Synology Account Devices list section.
Note: Not all devices are eligible for the extended warranty plan – only select NAS devices and some expansion units.
Note: You must apply for the Extended Warranty Plan within 90 days of buying your device.
Note: If more than 90 days have passed since you’ve purchased your device, but it’s still in warranty, you can still buy an Extended Warranty Plan if the device is on the list of eligible devices. This offer expires after August 31, 2022.
Note: You need a proof of purchase (e.g. receipt) to apply for the extended warranty plan. If you do not have one, the manufacturing date of your device will be considered as proof of purchase instead.
Note: If you do not have a proof of purchase, but your device is in the list of eligible devices, you can still buy the Extended Warranty Plus plan if no more than 180 days have passed since the manufacturing date of your device.
Note: There are only 3 service centers where you can send in your faulty device: one in Germany, one in the UK, and one in the US.
