Synology: Create Shortcuts on Desktop

Synology Create Shortcuts on Desktop

After seeing some screenshots of my DSM desktop, a lot of fellow Synology users have emailed me asking how I moved the icons from the Control Panel directly to my desktop. After I moved the icons to my desktop I was able to access them more easily. The procedure to follow is quite simple: just drag and drop the icons you’d like to have on your DSM desktop from Control Panel to your DSM desktop. I’m showing you how it’s done in the video below.

As you can see, the right mouse button is disabled, so if you click on the icons in the Control Panel, it won’t work (that is, there’s no option to create a shortcut on desktop). So a simple drag and drop will work instead of the right mouse button click. As for the Main Menu, that’s a completely different story. If you go to the Main Menu and right click on an icon, the “Add to Desktop” option will appear (allowing you to create a shortcut on desktop).
