Fix Synology DSM 7 SMB Clients Get Disconnected

If your SMB clients get disconnected after you update your DSM from 6.2.4 to DSM 7.0.1, Windows XP devices, media players, network printers, smart TVs, and IP cameras won’t be able to access your Synology NAS by default. To restore the connection after the update from DSM 6.2.4 to DSM 7.0.1, follow this easy step by step guide below.

  • STEP 1

Go to Control Panel / File Services / SMB tab / Advanced Settings. Follow the instructions in the image below.

  • STEP 2

After you click Advanced Settings on STEP 1, a new pop up window will open. Click on the Others tab then select Enable NTLMv1 authentication. Click Save. Follow the instructions in the image below.

  • STEP 3

After you click Save on STEP 2, a new warning pop up window will open. Click Yes. Follow the instructions in the image below.

After you click Yes, your currently disconnected devices should reconnect.
