Synology: New Docker Version 24.0.2-1535 The Unexpected Slap

Synology New Docker Version 24.0.2-1535 The Unexpected Slap
Well, today, February 11, 2025, Synology has decided to take their Docker package, aka the Container Manager package, out of beta. We are finally at version 24.0.2 but there’s a catch – something I absolutely do not like: they did not listen at all to the thousands of Feature Inquiries sent by thousands of users from all over the world regarding bringing their Docker Engine to a more updated version. Do you remember my post dated August 29, 2024 in which I pointed out that Docker daemon 24.0.2 was in EOL as of June 8, 2024?

Synology had assured us via its responses, which you can see here, that they were concerned about the issue and would definitely do something about it, even if their resources were too limited to more promptly address this otherwise trivial update. Nevertheless, here we are, February 11, 2025, with a Docker Daemon 24.0.2 out of beta, but in End Of Life.

🚀Can I install this package on my Synology NAS? Sure, you can, and I encourage you to do that. I didn’t experience any issues with the new Container Manager 24.0.2-1535 package, and all containers are running perfectly without issue.

Thank you, Synology, for not listening to us users. Congratulations instead to UGREEN, TerraMaster, QNAP and ASUSTOR who continue to listen to their users and keep up not only with new Kernels, but also with the requests of the enthusiastic community, as is the case of the Docker Daemon update.

There just seems to be no way to contact a Synology manager to expedite the Container Manager update. If anyone has any contacts, please send them the link to this article. Let’s hope that a solution can be found and this pressing issue addressed promptly.
