I’ve always wanted a Synology NAS since the very first time I heard about it! When I found out that you could use it for hosting your own website at home, I was simply thrilled. There are so many things you can use a Synology NAS for: storage and backup, personal cloud, surveillance, virtual machine and, probably its most exciting use, web hosting.
A great thing about a Synology NAS device is that you can use either HDD or SSD disks on it depending on what you choose to use your NAS for. It’s true that SSD disks are more expensive compared to HDD, but one advantage that may make you choose SSDs over HDDs is the fact they are silent which means you can keep your Synology NAS in your bedroom and won’t lose a wink of sleep because of the noise. More important, SSDs are the absolute best option for web hosting due to their higher overall performance.
What I like about Synology NAS devices is their operating system which is user friendly and extremely intuitive. There’s also another popular brand of NAS (from QNAP), but its operating system is just not as good as Synology’s. In my opinion, Synology is simply the best.
A Synology NAS has a minimalist design and is built from quality materials, two reasons that made me choose it over other brands. Given my excitement and preference for this product, I’m going to be writing a lot of articles about it, how to set it up and use it for whatever purpose you choose to. My goal is to make Synology NAS known to the world and give everyone a chance to learn how to use it and make their lives easier. And get to a point where they can even shave hosting expenses off their budget by hosting from home.
In this day and age hosting has become too expensive for the average person looking to start a blog and lacking generous funds, not to mention it does not offer too many options. We’re talking here about website speed, memory, storage, simultaneous connections as well as the fact that you share your resources with others. Buying a Synology NAS and hosting your website on it gives you the opportunity to have 100% dedicated resources in addition to enjoying great page speed, memory, storage and a significantly higher number of simultaneous connections for an excellent user experience.
At this point I’m still in the initial setup phase, but I feel confident that my DS718+ Synology NAS will measure up to any challenge. So keep following me in my Synology adventure and discover all the secrets of this wonderful product that promises to be a game changer in the world of technology and website hosting.
